  5. some employer expect perfect maid which is impossible. they will deduct our salary whenever we made any mistake, $5 for broken glass, $5 for forgetting to do something.... and many more and in the end, we suffer again without much money at the end of the month!
  6. the other thing is that we also find very difficult to control the children. They ignore our advise and does not listen us. Employer does not allow us to scold the kids, or give them punishment, so how the employer expect we to control the children. And when the children got problems like fall down, never do homework, fight with others, run out the house - employer blame us for not controling the kids. When we try to control the bad behaviour the children compliant to employer say we bully them and employer then scold us. we are stuck in the middle and all the time we are wrong.

thats all.

i am sure many maids suffer like me, so employers out there, pls treat your maid as human. Treat them well so they will be able to work hard and in return have you family in their hearts.

Agree, maids are not robot, they are human like us.

Depends on what mistakes she has made. As I always said, keep repeating the same mistakes is unforgivable. By just saying sorry is not enough if the things that make spoilt is expensive.

They allow me to write letters only but do not allow me to give my address to my family. my family cannot even write to me so how to work well especially when i was just first time in Singapore.  : I allow my maid to write letters only in every 3 months, address is allow to give. Condition : I will have to screen through all letters in & out. All of my maids agree to my terms & most of them don't wish to phone calls too.

But if the thing can be repaired, I will let go. But sure to let her know the price. Standare of living in Singapore is very high. I can't live with a maid whom always destroying my things.

When we try to control the bad behaviour the children compliant to employer say we bully them and employer then scold us. we are stuck in the middle and all the time we are wrong.  : As I've said earlier in my posting, I allow my maid to scold if my kids misbehaviour. As for kids falling, of cos we do reprimand the maid since they are the only who is at home with the kids. But everytime, I won't not harsly question my maid, will ask for the reason & what is she doing when the kids fall. And will ask my elder daughter as well.

Pls keep in mind that not only maids, we as their employers will hope to live in harmony with the  maids. Maids tried their best to help us. Employers tried our best to treat the maids like our own family members.



As a maid (i live and work in europe) i must say that mstan have right and very clear opinions as always:)
